  • How do I make my Discover card the default card when I use Android Pay?

    The first card you add to Android Pay automatically becomes your default payment card. To change your default card, go into the Android Pay app, click on your Discover card and select "Set as default card." If you have more than one card loaded, you can tap and hold to drag your Discover card to the top of wallet "default" spot.

  • What is Android Pay?

    Android Pay is a payment app that allows you to add your card to your supported Android device in order to make purchases at participating merchants.

    You can use these Discover cards with Android Pay:

  • Where can I use Android Pay?

    In order to use Android Pay in-store, a merchant must accept contactless payments. To identify if a merchant accepts contactless payments, look for at least one of these symbols in the store:

  • What do I need to use Android Pay?

    You will need an NFC-enabled Android phone running KitKat 4.4 or newer, and the Android Pay app. If you don’t already have the app on your device you can download it for free from the Google Play Store.

  • How do I set up Android Pay and add my Discover card?

    Download the Android Pay app from the Google Play Store and open the app. Once the app is downloaded you can add your card to Android Pay through the following way:

    1. If you already have your Discover card on file through a Google Account, on the "Choose a card for Android Pay" screen, select your Discover card. If you do not already have your Discover card on file through a Google Account: Click on the "+" button to add your Discover card.
    2. Enter or confirm your card details.
    3. Review and accept the Terms & Conditions.
    4. Confirm your screen lock settings.

    Now you're ready to go!

  • How do I use Android Pay?

    To pay with Android Pay in-store:

    1. Wake up and unlock your device. No need to open the app.
    2. Tap your device against the contactless payment terminal.
    3. Your phone will show a green check mark and beep or vibrate to show your payment was made.

    To make purchases within participating merchant apps on your Android device, simple select Android Pay at checkout. Your default card in Android Pay will be used to complete the transaction.

  • Does it cost anything to use Android Pay?

    There is no cost to cardmembers for using their Discover card in Android Pay. However, your Discover card’s terms and conditions will apply to purchases. Also, additional message and data charges may apply depending on your wireless plan.

  • What do I do if I am issued a new card or my current Discover card expires?

    No further action is required on your part to continue to use your Discover card in Android Pay. Discover will generate a new account number and make it available in Android Pay.

  • Can I continue to use my plastic card after I add my card to Android Pay?

    Yes. You can continue to use your plastic card as you usually would after you add that card to Android Pay.

  • How will I know if a transaction was successful when paying with Android Pay?

    For in-store and in-app purchases you will see a confirmation screen in addition to a transaction notification on your device. You can always view your Android Pay transactions in the Android Pay app.

  • Will I need to sign a receipt after I pay in-store with Android Pay?

    You may need to sign a receipt, depending on the merchant.

  • What is the virtual account number?

    When you add your Discover card to Android Pay, a virtual account number is created for that card on your device. Think of it as a digital stand-in for your payment information. This number is different from your credit card number. To view the last four digits of the virtual account number, go to "Card details" or "Transaction details."

  • Do I need to do something different if I want to return the goods I bought in-store?

    Yes. With purchases made with Android Pay, you use your virtual account number to process a return. You will follow a similar process as you do for regular returns, but in addition to the paper receipt, you may need to tap your phone to the payment terminal again to complete the return. To view the last four digits of the virtual account number, go to "Card details" or "Transaction details." Alternatively, hold your device near the contactless terminal and select the card you used to make the purchase.

  • Will I be able to return an item with Android Pay that was originally bought with my Discover card and vice versa?

    Different merchants have different return policies, and some only accept the return if you have the method of payment you used for the initial purchase.

  • When I use Android Pay, do I earn rewards (for example, Cashback Bonus or Miles)?

    You will continue to earn eligible Cashback Bonus or Miles on every purchase using your Discover card with Android Pay. To view your individual card benefits, simply log into your Discover account or the Discover Mobile App.

  • What do I do if I'm having trouble adding my Discover card to Android Pay?

    You may not have the eligible device and/or eligible card. If you need additional support, please contact us at 1-800-347-7038.

  • Am I liable for unauthorized charges made with my card using Android Pay?

    You are never responsible for unauthorized purchases on your Discover card.

  • My smartphone with my Discover card saved in the Android Pay app was lost or stolen. What can I do to protect my Discover card account information?

    You never have to worry because your personal account information is never stored on your device. You can navigate to Google's Android Device Manager to help you find, lock, and erase your phone. Alternatively, you can call us at 1-800-347-7038 and we will assist you in freezing your card in Android Pay.

  • If I choose to freeze my credit card account, what effect does it have on my card in Android Pay?

    If you freeze your credit card account you will be unable to use your card, including within Android Pay, until you unfreeze your account. When you freeze your account, Discover will not authorize new purchases, cash advances or balance transfers. However, some activity will continue, including bills that merchants mark as recurring, as well as returns, credits, dispute adjustments, payments, Discover protection product fees, other account fees, interest, rewards redemptions and certain other exempted transactions.

  • If my plastic card is lost or stolen, what effect does it have on my card in Android Pay?

    After you report your card as lost/stolen, it will be unavailable in Android Pay for 24 to 48 hours while a new account number is created and updated in Android Pay. No further action is required on your part to continue to use your card in Android Pay.

  • What effect does it have on Android Pay if I replace my device?

    If you replace your device, you will need to add your Discover card in Android Pay.

  • What if I have questions about Android Pay while shopping?

    Open the Android Pay app on your supported device, tap on your Discover card and select "Contact Discover" to speak with a customer service representative.
