We have made the decision to discontinue Online Privacy Protection from Discover, a free optional service that scans certain people-search websites for personal information, for all of our customers. This means your enrollment in this product will end on January 15, 2026.
You will be able to access your Online Privacy Protection scans from Discover in the Discover mobile app until January 15, 2026. These scan results will not be available after January 15, 2026. The cancellation of Online Privacy Protection from Discover does not affect any other terms of your Discover account(s) and/or agreement(s).
While every site is different, many people-search websites have instructions that you can follow on how to submit opt-out requests to remove your personal information.
There are a few things you can do to stay in control of your personal information:
- Be cautious about the information you share on social media and other public websites
- Use strong, unique passwords for all your online accounts
- Enable two-factor authentication whenever possible
- Regularly check your privacy settings on internet browsers, websites and apps
- Consider a dark web monitoring service like CreditWise available for free from Capital One, that scans the dark web for your personal information and notifies you if they find your data online. In addition, CreditWise also monitors your Experian® and Transunion® credit reports.
Yes, you may cancel your enrollment in Online Privacy Protection any time.
