What is SCRA?

The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) is a federal statute that provides financial relief and protections to eligible military personnel serving on active duty. The goal of the SCRA is to enable those actively serving in the military to devote their energy to the defense of our country by relieving them from the distraction of certain civil matters.

The SCRA provides an interest rate of no more than 6% on all eligible loans and credit products. Payments are still required on accounts enrolled in SCRA benefits. We may report information about your account to credit bureaus. Late payments, missed payments, or other defaults on your account may be reflected on your credit report.

For Discover accounts, Discover's SCRA Program offers an interest rate of no more than 4% on eligible accounts. Also, late payment, returned check and other certain fee types are not assessed. If applicable, a check for retroactive SCRA adjustments may be sent to the address on the account.
