Discover it® Miles is an innovative credit card designed for users who want to earn travel rewards for everyday purchases.

Discover Match® for New Cardmembers

While there are many rewards cards with sign-up bonuses, the Discover it® Miles card doesn’t give new cardmembers a bonus right away. Instead, it comes at the end of the first year, when it matches the Miles you’ve earned.1 In other words, if you spend $1,000 per month, under the standard 1.5 Miles per dollar rate, you will earn 1,500 Miles. In one year, that will be 18,000 Miles. So, with the Discover Match bonus, you will get an extra 18,000 Miles. That’s, 36,000 Miles total! That’s a bonus on top of all the other generous features, including no cap on the number of Miles you can earn and no minimum spending requirement.

Earn More Than Just Airline Miles

Even though the Discover it® Miles card has the word “Miles” in it, it’s a fixed-point card that essentially earns the equivalent of 1.5 cents on every dollar—and not just for use on one particular airline, as is often the case with travel cards that are co-branded with an airline. Those often carry blackout dates and other redemption limitations.

With the Discover it® Miles card, your redemption rate is fixed at one cent per Mile, and you have flexibility to redeem Miles on whichever airline you choose. Not only that, but you can redeem Miles for any expense that codes as travel—hotels, car rentals, tours, excursions, even subway and taxi rides—for a statement credit within 180 days. Otherwise, you can redeem Miles whenever you want by depositing them into your bank account.

Here’s how it works: Let’s say you spend $10,000 on the card. Since you earn 1.5 Miles on a dollar, your $10,000 purchase will earn you 15,000 Miles. You can redeem these 15,000 Miles for $150 at a redemption rate of one cent per Mile. If you make a travel-related purchase, you can get a $150 statement credit; if not, you can deposit $150 into your bank account. In your first year, Discover will match your Miles, so your $10,000 purchase will actually earn you 30,000 Miles, which you can redeem for $300 instead of $150.

Exclusive Travel Card Features

Another great feature of the Discover it® Miles card is that there is no redemption minimum. Whereas some rewards programs have thresholds at which you can redeem—$25, $50, even $100—this card allows you to redeem as little as one Mile if you wish.

Cardmembers also receive up to $30 in-flight Wi-Fi credits on your statement every year, valid for any Wi-Fi service in the sky.2
