College loans for international students

Eligibility Criteria

  • International students must attend an eligible US college or university.
  • International students require a creditworthy cosigner who is a US citizen or permanent resident. International students do not need a Social Security number to apply.
  • Loan eligibility varies by loan type you're applying for.
  • Students residing in, or who are citizens of, OFAC Sanctioned Countries are not eligible for this US based student loan program. For the most up to date information on OFAC Sanctions, go to the United States Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) OFAC Sanctions.

You may need to send us a copy of your passport and one of the following documents for loan approval. Please call us at 1-800-STUDENT if you do not have any of the documents above.

Additional Information

You must reside within the US during your program studies. If your permanent home address is an international address, then a temporary / in-school US address will be required on the application. If you do not yet have a temporary US address, you can enter your school's address on your application. Please update us with your new US address as soon as you have it.
