You can nominate yourself as a cosigner for a student before they begin the application process by completing a Cosigner Nomination form. This is not a loan application. After you give us some basic information about yourself and the student, we will notify the student that you nominated yourself to be a cosigner for their student loan application. If the student applies and selects you as their cosigner, we will check your credit. You will have an opportunity to look at the terms and conditions before signing the loan documents and becoming obligated for it.
You have to submit a Cosigner Nomination form. You will need to fill in some basic information about yourself and the student. Please keep in mind that we will not be checking your credit when you submit your cosigner nomination; we will only check your credit if and when the borrower applies and selects your cosigner nomination.
After the student submits a credit application and wants to add a cosigner, we will send the cosigner a 'Cosigner Key' which they can use to submit a cosigner application. Credit will be checked at the time of submission.
Before the student submits a credit application, a cosigner can start the process by submitting a Cosigner Nomination form. Cosigners submit basic information about themselves and the student, credit check is not performed at time of submission. After the student submits a credit application and a nomination is available, the student can add the cosigner to the application. A credit check will be performed on the cosigner at that point.

Yes. You can withdraw your cosigner nomination any time before the student selects you as a cosigner. The student has 60 days to accept your cosigner nomination. Once the student selects you as a cosigner, you can no longer withdraw your cosigner nomination. You can however choose not to accept the loan terms.
The student has 60 days to accept your cosigner nomination. If they do not select you as a cosigner within 60 days, your nomination will expire.
