My husband and I met in Spanish class our junior year of high school. He has been in the Air Force working his way to be a medic. The Discover military work from home program makes it possible for me and other spouses, vets and retirees to take your job with you.

If we move or get orders, I know that I can take my job wherever my husband get stationed. That really gives us confidence and a peace of mind. Discover grades our calls, so if you get an orange call that means it was like a phenomenal call.

I’ve had one month where all the calls were orange. I was very excited knowing that I gave my best customer service that month and I hope to do it again. At the end of the day, after I’m off, I can logout of my computer, take off my headset and I’m home.

I got hired at Discover while I was pregnant and with working at home, we have the flexibility to have the family time that we really want with our daughter. It’s important to Discover that we have a happy life outside of work, and if we are happy outside of work, then we’re happy at work, which makes it easy for us to do our jobs and help the customers.

My name is Mandalyn, and being a part of the Discover family gives me more time to spend with my family.

Success for me is progress. You don’t have to be number one. You don’t have to be a record breaker. You don’t have to have a perfect call. As long as you’re doing better than you did the day before…for me, that’s success.

I’m always very proud of my kids. I’ve had athletes who have fallen over hurdles, get dead last in a race, but, they got up and finished. So, it’s all about my team on the field and in the office. Being happy outside of work translates to you being happy at work.

The moment I come in, I’m going around to see how everybody’s doing, which consists of me coaching my people through their calls. On each call, the highest score they can get is a six. I have a team member that’s a little shy. She got her first six and she was just so excited. I came in and she said, “Guess what? I got my last call in and it was a six!” Give me a high five and me doing a little dance celebrating their success.

From my high school coach up through my several collegiate coaches, they’ve all been motivational in some way, shape or form. I think it just took them to see something in me for me to realize the potential that I had, and I think that is what I give the kids that I coach.

It’s not an easy job. I have people that come in, they’ve not had their best day. And they have to get on the phone, and they have to have conversations with other people who may not be having their best day. Sometimes, put aside what you’re going through in order to help somebody get through what they’re going through.

It’s great when a customer calls to say how well we’re doing as a company and how much they appreciate talking to our agents on the phone.

My name is Jerome. I’ve been Discover for 14 years. I definitely think I’ll be here for 15 more years, if not longer.
