One of the biggest advantages you can get from your credit card, which you generally can’t get from a debit or prepaid card, is the opportunity to build your credit.

See, credit cards are just a part of a much larger credit system. And building credit through responsible credit card use is important if you plan on shopping for student loans, car loans, renting an apartment or applying for a mortgage in the future. Creditors may check your credit report before extending you credit.

A strong credit history will help open doors and using credit cards responsibly can be a great first step.

So remember to pay on time, make at least your minimum payment and stay well within your credit limit to give yourself your best chance at a bright credit future.
