Grant Application

Guidelines

If your organization falls within our giving guidelines below, you may submit a grant request using the simple online questionnaire. Begin on the home page by answering a few eligibility questions. Once you have passed the assessment test you may enter the online application tool.

Criteria for eligibility includes:

  • Organization must be 501(c)3 status
  • Organization must not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, national origin, disability, handicap, age, sexual orientation, martial status, veteran status or any other basis prohibited by law
  • Organization must emphasize support for programs that focus on education and/or financial literacy
  • Organization must allow Discover Financial Services to use its name and/or logo in communication materials, any use of Discover Financial Services name/logo usage must first be approved by Community Affairs

Funds must not benefit:

  • Organizations with specific religious affiliations
  • Political candidates, causes, organizations or campaigns
  • Endowments or capital campaigns
  • Fundraising activities, such as galas, benefits, dinners and sporting events
  • Goodwill advertising, souvenir journals or dinner programs
  • Individual needs, including scholarships, sponsorships and other forms of financial aid
  • Travel for individuals or groups
  • Books, magazines or articles in professional journals
  • Any other activities deemed not appropriate for support

Once submitted, your application will be evaluated based on:

  • Alignment with our overall focus on philanthropic giving
  • Organizationís impact in the communities where Discover Financial Services employees live and work
  • Opportunity for Discover Financial Services employee involvement
  • Please note that Discover Financial Services initiates the vast majority of our grants and we offer limited funding to unsolicited proposals.
